Setting a bald cap is an essential theatrical make-up special effect technique often employed to created specific character looks – from the fully bald head of an old man to a patient riddled with advanced cancer – the correct use of a bad cap can amplify the theatrical equation. BUT – properly setting a bald cap is a process that does require some finesse and experience. This workshop will explore the techniques required of that process: the sizing of a bald cap, how to deal with different types of hair under a bald cap, the application of the bald cap and the use of different kinds of adhesives, the blending of edges once the bald cap is glued down and the successful color matching of the bald cap to the actors skin.
